This is a short presentation to introduce the colourful world of Henri Rousseau! Henri Rousseau was a self taught, French artist who didn’t begin painting until aged 49. He is famous for brightly coloured, imaginative and disproportionate paintings. This resource is ideal to use as part of bigger projects on France, Henri Rousseau, post-impressionism, animals, jungles and landscapes.

The Great Wave off Kanagawa is a woodblock print by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. It is one of the most famous pieces of Japanese art. This resource will enable children to look closely at the artwork, consider the details and notice the colours before honing their colouring in skills. This resource will make a great addition to your nature table or nature themed projects. This Remembrance Day themed art activity explores the four different colours of poppies that are currently in use (red black,purple and white) . Children will first learn about the colour and meaning of each poppy before designing their own version which could be used to represent all groups. It is a time of joy and happiness, skulls are an important feature of the celebration and are seen everywhere. This resource includes five skulls that can be coloured and decorated. The designs are of varying difficulty levels and include a blank one for those that want to completely design their own skull. I have successfully used these templates with years 3,4,5 and 6 to create masks and bunting but they could also be used by both younger and older children. This resource has been made for you to use during Children’s Mental Health Week (6th - 12th February). The theme for this year is ‘Let’s Connect’. More information about the event can be found at: www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk The aim of this activity is for children to think about the connections that they have with others. when children have healthy connections with others it makes them feel good about themselves and have a sense of belonging. Connections can also be with places, pets and activities. When children lack healthy connections it can lead to feelings of isolation and poor mental health. In this activity children will first think about the connections that they have with others, they will then add colour to the pipes and background and write their connections on different sections of the pipes. The artwork squares can then be cut out and the children can connect their pipes together with the rest of the class -making a lovely display for mental health week and showing the children how they all fit together and connect with each other as a class. Minimal art supplies are needed- just something to colour with and scissors. This resource has been designed for KS2 but it could also be used with other age groups depending on ability.

Anti-Bullying Week 2022 is coordinated in England and Wales by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. It will take place from 14 to 18 November 2022 and has the theme Reach Out.
